What Qualifies as Leaving the Scene of an Accident?

There are many things that could qualify as leaving the scene, but in most situations, the most important thing to do is to make sure that your name, address, and phone number is given to the other driver. By statute, if those three things are not given to the other driver, then you can be charged with leaving the scene of an accident. It is always preferable to get the police involved. However, people and their busy lives sometimes don't want to get the police involved. As long as those three things are given, then it's okay and you cannot be charged with leaving the scene of the accident. It is also preferable to give either a phone number or an email address, as well. It is not mandatory by statute.
