I Wasn't Arrested, but I Was Given a Ticket or Notice to Appear in Court. What Do I Do?
Getting a notice to appear on what appears to be a ticket is the same as if you're arrested. It's still a criminal offense, and you will still have to face the charges, which again can include jail. The first thing you do is talk to an attorney about the case. Talk to the attorney about defenses you may have in it, even though you were not arrested on it, it does not mean this is not going to appear on your record. It's important that you get an attorney to fight these kinds of charges.
