In some cases, it actually is. It may be better to choose the class so that you can avoid the points, but one important thing you should not do is just pay the ticket, because that will cause a rise in insurance rates by just paying a ticket. So, sometimes, it can be cheaper to not get an attorney.

Now, with that being said, it is always better to get an attorney because an attorney can actually go to court for you, you do not need to go to court if you have an attorney, and the attorney may be able to get the charge actually dismissed. At a minimum, a lot of times, the attorney can keep the points off for you, avoid having you do the school. Therefore, it is always advisable to get an attorney, but there are certainly times that it may be better to just elect the school because it can be a cheaper option.
